How much would you be paying in taxes in Williamsburg? It depends on where in Williamsburg you live, it is broken up in three different areas.

1. James City County-

Real Estate Taxes are based on the assessed value that the county assessors give. It is $0.77 per $100 of the assessed value. Example: Property was assessed at $200,000. 200,000 / 100 = 2,000 x 0.77 = 1,540. Real Estate Taxes would be $1,540.

Personal Property Taxes on vehicles are based on the assessed value as well. It is 4% of the assessed value. Example: Truck is valued at $10,000. 10,000 x .04 = 400. Personal property taxes on the truck would be $400

Business Personal Property Taxes i.e. tools, fixtures etc.. are based on the assessed value too. It is $4.00 per $100 of the assessed value. Example: Tools are worth $75,000. 75,000 / 100 = 750 x 4.00 = 3,000. Business Personal Property Taxes would be $3,000.

2. York County-

Real Estate Taxes are based on the assessed value that the county assessors give. It is $0.7515 per $100 of the assessed value. Example: Property was assessed at $200,000. 200,000 / 100 = 2,000 x 0.7515 = 1,503. Real Estate Taxes would be $1,503.

Personal Property Taxes on vehicles are based on the assessed value as well. It is $4.00 per $100 of the assessed value. Example: Truck is valued at $10,000. 10,000 / 100 = 100 x 4.00 = 400. Personal property taxes on the truck would be $400.

Business Personal Property Taxes i.e. tools, fixtures etc.. are based on the assessed value too. It is $4.00 per $100 of the assessed value. Example: Tools are worth $75,000. 75,000 / 100 = 750 x 4.00 = 3,000. Business Personal Property Taxes would be $3,000.

3. City of Williamsburg-

Real Estate Taxes are based on the assessed value that the county assessors give. It is $0.57 per $100 of the assessed value. Example: Property was assessed at $200,000. 200,000 / 100 = 2,000 x 0.57 = 1,140. Real Estate Taxes would be $1,140.

Personal Property Taxes on vehicles are based on the assessed value as well. It is $3.50 per $100 of the assessed value. Example: Truck is valued at $10,000. 10,000 / 100 = 100 x 3.50 = 350. Personal property taxes on the truck would be $350.

Business Personal Property Taxes i.e. tools, fixtures etc.. are based on the assessed value too. It is $3.50 per $100 of the assessed value. Example: Tools are worth $75,000. 75,000 / 100 = 750 x 3.50 = 2,625. Business Personal Property Taxes would be $2,625.
