Newport News

Is Newport News the right move for you?

Moving is a huge deal & you have to consider everything!

It is home to approximately 185,200 people & is the 4th largest city in the state!

Fun Fact: Hilton Village, off Warwick Blvd, was the first government-subsidized “planned community”, in an effort to increase housing due to the war taking away residents. It was established July 7, 1918.

Below are some resources that I pulled

How much would you be paying in taxes in Newport News?

Real Estate Taxes are based on the assessed value that the county assessors give. It is $1.22 per $100 of the assessed value. Example: Property was assessed at $200,000. 200,000 / 100 = 2,000 x 1.22 = 2,440. Real Estate Taxes would be $2,440.

Personal Property Taxes on vehicles are based on the assessed value as well. It is $4.50 per $100 of the assessed value. Example: Truck is valued at $10,000. 10,000 / 100 = 100 x 4.50 = 450. Personal property taxes on the truck would be $450

Business Personal Property Taxes i.e. tools, fixtures etc.. are based on the assessed value too. It is $3.50 per $100 of the assessed value. Example: Tools are worth $75,000. 75,000 / 100 = 750 x 3.50 = 2,625. Business Personal Property Taxes would be $2,625
